About the Algarve

Portugal is one of the smallest but also one of the most sunniest and warmest countries of Europe. The Algarve is the most southern region of Portugal and is largely due to the district of Faro. With 4.960 kilometers Faro is the tenth largest district in Portugal and this district has much to offer. The Algarve is ideal because the area is suitable for enjoying the sun, the sea, the beaches, the hospitality of the local population and the beautiful surroundings of the inner landscape. Whether you are looking for a healthy meal of grilled fish and seafood, a dive to the beach, wonderful views of the sea and the mountains or a place to enjoy your favorite sport: it's all possible. The Algarve is the ideal location for the performance of a variety of sports such as golfing, sailing, tennis and diving. The landscape is varied, the coast west of Faro has the famous rock formations and small beaches and at the east of Faro there are the lagoons and miles of white sandy beaches to be found. Faro is divided into 16 municipalities.
